I feel fortunate to spend much of my time in Florida -- 'the sunshine state' and I try to capture the sunshine, color and foliage that I see in my paintings. Painting 'en plein air' is a way to convey my immediate impressions and sensations in paint so that others may experience these places as well.
The use of water media conveys a sense of immediacy too, by the often unexpected ways in which the paints flow and interact with each other. Painting offers me non-stop challenges as well as a sense of meditative peace as images and paint come together in a pleasing way. I feel that art is an important way of evoking human feelings in today's busy, technical world. - Pat Fadden
Pat Fadden is a former high school art teacher who now lives in Flagler Beach, Florida and part-time in the mountains of north Georgia. She is a graduate of the University of Miami and holds a Master's Degree from Florida International University in Miami, Fl. Once a potter and jewelry-maker, Pat's focus now is watercolor painting in which she attempts to convey a sense of the beauty and wonder of nature as well as feelings of joy, peace and calm. She feels that art is an important way of evoking human feelings in a technical world that is overly busy and stressful.
Pat is a member of Flagler County Art League, East Coast Plein Air, Georgia Watercolor Society and St. Augustine Art Association. Her award-winning work has been shown at the Quinlan Art Center and the Buisson Art Center in Georgia as well as at the Casements in Ormond Beach, Flagler County Art League and St. Augustine Art Association. Her work can also be seen at the Emmons Cottage Gallery in Ormond Beach, where she is a co-op member.
