When I was in high school in my native Sweden, I could not decide whether to focus on art education or physics/math/chemistry. At that time in my life, the technical part of me prevailed and it was almost 20 years before the urge to paint could no longer be contained.
I started painting watercolors, taking lessons from Miho Simunovic, and painting became an important part of my life. I have now painted for more than two decades, and I am still fascinated by the frustrating, wonderful way the watercolors act when put on paper to show a special picture.
Special pictures for me are scenes I remember from growing up in Sweden, special places visited when travelling in Europe, and now, scenery from California, Hawaii, the East Cost and other places in the United States. I love to paint the brilliant colors of autumn and the smouldering heat of summer in different landscapes and seascapes, as well as still lifes that capture the fragility of flowers and the hushness of fruits.
In the fast paced world of Silicon Valley where I live and work since many years, my painting provides an oasis of calm tranquility. I also paint in celebration of life -- our precious, wonderful, challenging, ever-changing, fantastic and sometimes all-too-short life.
